Richard P. Riley is Managing Partner of Riley Pasek Canty LLP. He spent the first eight years of his career with a major Los Angeles law firm representing developers, subcontractors and their insurance companies in various types of litigation matters. This experience provided Mr. Riley with particular case evaluation knowledge and a unique understanding of the complexities of insurance coverage issues facing developers and their insurers.
For the past twenty five years, Mr. Riley has exclusively represented individual homeowners and community associations as small as 10 units and as large as 700
units in all types of construction from traditional wood framing to steel frame high-rise buildings. Mr. Riley has technical expertise in several areas of construction including concrete foundations, stucco systems, hardboard and fiber cement siding systems, tile roof systems, standing seam metal roof systems, high-rise buildings, subterranean garages, and geotechnical issues including soils movement and retaining walls.
Mr. Riley has extensive experience in working with community associations, their
Board of Directors, and community managers in complying with the Davis-Stirling Act
and related California law. Mr. Riley advises common interest developments on general corporate matters including governing document analysis and interpretation,
compliance with Association’s maintenance and repair obligations and compliance
with SB800 Maintenance Manuals and Inspections.
