Mr. Kevin Canty has spent all 17 years of his legal career zealously advancing his client’s interests both through formal litigation and through counseling clients regarding negotiations and business practices aimed at avoiding litigation. While Mr. Canty has extensive litigation experience in both State and Federal Courts, he constantly works with his community association clients throughout California, Hawaii, and Washington on strategies and practices that can help them avoid the adversarial, and sometimes costly, process of litigation. His attention to detail, along with a result-oriented approach to construction disputes, allows Mr. Canty garner the respect of parties on the other side of the table and effectively negotiate for his clients, treating lawsuits as a last resort, rather than a go-to plan.

Mr. Canty’s practice focuses on all aspects of construction, including claims for defects in original construction, defects arising from condominium conversion, defective repair work, statutory inspection requirements, and insurance coverage related to those disputes. Mr. Canty also routinely counsels his association clients regarding their maintenance and repair obligations, maintaining the value of a community’s assets, and effective reserve budgeting strategies.

Mr. Canty heads up the firm’s Southern California operations and routinely handles multi-million construction defects claims, contributing to the firm’s recovery of more than $300 million dollars for its clients. Clients have complimented Kevin for his ability to break down complex legal and construction concepts into simple, understandable terms.
